General Information
We are delighted to welcome you to our ranch! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Here are a few general questions and answers.
How do deliveries work?
We deliver from Fountain-Fort Collins. We do branch off east and west of i25, so if you are unsure if you are in our delivery area, please reach out!
We have a select amount of delivery slots. If you place an order and the upcoming delivery slot is full, then you will be contacted with the next delivery date.
You will be given a 1hr delivery time frame, know that this could fluctuate very slightly. If you are not going to be available or home for your delivery, we can place your order in a cooler.
Ranch pick up is always an option!
Bulk Meat?
We offer bulk meat purchases on both our Beef and Pork.
Hanging weight VS packaged weight?
-
Hanging weight: the weight of the carcass once the processor has removed the innards, head, hide, etc. ( this is the weight you will be charged for)
-
Packaged weight: the final packaged meat you receive back after it has undergone the dry aging process (beef). This is on average 70% of the hanging weight. This can fluctuate based on cuts chosen, offal, bones, etc.
We also recommend our customers getting all the bones and offal back!

Ranching Practices
At our ranch, we believe in providing our customers with the highest quality pasture-raised beef, chicken, lamb and pork. All of our animals are raised on our ranch pastures in Calhan, CO. Our Black Angus and lamb are grass-fed and finished never seeing ANY grains. Our chickens and pigs are fed high quality organic grains in addition to open pastures. We take pride in our commitment to sustainable and ethical ranching practices. Land management is extremely consequential to our ranch and we practice pasture preservation throughout our land. All animals are cared for using Organic all natural animal husbandry. Black Horse Ranch is proud to be fully licensed and inspected through El Paso County and the USDA.
Visiting the Ranch
We are excited to welcome you to our ranch and show you where your food comes from. Although we don't provide direct animal interactions, you can still observe our cattle, sheep, pigs, chickens, bees, and ducks from a safe distance outside their enclosures. Please keep in mind that since we are a working ranch, it's necessary to make arrangements in advance.
